80% Insulation & Heat Pump Subsidies

02 June 2022

The government's 2022 Budget has continued the Warmer Kiwi Homes 80% subsidies for insulation and heat pumps through to June 2023.

The government’s 2022 budget has continued the Warmer Kiwi Homes programme to June 2023 with additional funding of $73 million.

The additional funding will assist approximately 47,700 more low income homes to retrofit ceiling and underfloor insulation or a heat pump in their living room and Brightr now has subsidies for both products in all our regions.

Subsidies are now 80% for ceiling & underfloor insulation, ground moisture barrier and a heat pump (heat pump capped at $3,000 inc GST). Some regions have more than 80% insulation subsidies thanks to the contribution of community organisations.

The eligibility criteria has not changed which is based on you owning (and occupying) a home built before 2008 and either:

  • You have a Community Services Card or CSC endorsed Gold Card OR
  • Your home is in a targeted low-income neighbourhood (about 30% of NZ homes are).

We can tell you if your address is in one of the specified low-income neighbourhoods - simply send us your address and we'll get back to you.
