Rental Insulation rules

21 March 2024

As a landlord, you have some responsibilities for the weather tightness and condition of your rental so that your tenants can enjoy a warm, dry and healthy property. These rules have been in place since July 2019 for all rental properties.

Where it is possible for you to access and install, your rental property must have adequate ceiling and underfloor insulation, The standards that you must meet are set out in the Residential Tenancies Act for the Healthy Homes Standard.
