The Warmer Kiwi Homes government subsidy programme is celebrating more than 100,000 retrofits since July 2018.
A Warmer Kiwi Homes Milestone
EECA has been administrating subsidy programmes for insulation and heat pumps since before 2009. It's latest programme "Warmer Kiwi Homes" was launched in July 2018 and currently offers:
- 80% Ceiling insulation subsidies
- 80% Underfloor Insulation Subsidies
- 80% Ground Moisture Barrier Subsidies
- 80% Heat Pump Subsidies (capped at $3,000)
In December the Warmer Kiwi Homes programme celebrated the completion of over 100,000 retrofits into kiwi low-income homes.

MOTU Independent Research Proves the Value of Subsidies
Independent Research on the Warmer Kiwi Homes Programme by MOTU has unearthed a myriad list of benefits of the programme to both the homeowners and society in general.
The research participants who had received subsidies had:
- a 16% reduction in electricity use over Winter months.
- a huge improvement in comfort and satisfaction with their home.
- reduced risk of respiratory illness.
- fewer doctors visits and hospitalisations.
